Ferdinand Dölberg
ABOUT
Ferdinand Dölberg (b.1998, Eisenach, now lives in Hamburg, Germany) graduated from the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK Berlin) under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Zipp in 2024.
His artistic practice centers on exploring the individual's position within social structures, the complexity of interpersonal relationships, and questioning the concept of "individuality." Fictional figures, mask-like faces, absurd body forms, and fluid gender identities serve as his primary subjects. By breaking away from traditional visual languages, Dölberg employs symbolic and playful techniques to reflect on the discipline and alienation of individuals in modern society, conveying critical reflections on established orders.
His solo & duo shows include:
“Questions are better than answers. Not always.”, 2026, EY PROJECTS, Shanghai; “und wenn sie es dir sagen” (duo show), 2025, Kunstverein Ulm, Ulm; “working is the beginning of all evil”, 2024, Galerie Anton Janizewski, Berlin; “Am Ende die Leerstelle”, 2023, Galerie Anton Janizewski, Berlin
His selected group shows include:
“Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, 2025, Galeria Pelaires, Palma de Malloca; “Liminality”, 2024, EY PROJECTS, Beijing; “Where the Wild Roses Grow”, 2023, Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, Berlin; “Inferno of the Same”, 2023, The Artist Room, London; “Tomorrow is Tomorrow is Tomorrow”, 2023, Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, London; “Telbat, Orbit”, 2023, Hamburg.
